Overview

Masjid Negara or the National Mosque was opened in 1965 and is until today one of the most distinguished mosques in the city. It has a unique stylized, star shaped dome that represents the 13 states of Malaysia and the five pillars of Islam. Its minaret is 73 metres high, and the prayer halls can accommodate up to 15,000 worshippers. Visitors are required to be appropriately attired while robes and headscarves are provided for ladies.
